Welcoming new members to the team

The last few months has seen the team grow rapidly. We’re delighted to welcome:

  • Project Architect Anna Roper
  • Architectural Technologist Sam Trevor
  • Part 2 Architectural Assistant Nathan Stocks
  • Part 1 Architectural Assistant Owais Abid
  • Office & Projects Manager Steve Smith

With time at the practice ranging from a six months to a couple of weeks, everyone has settled in well and is busy getting stuck into a wide range of projects. You can get to know our new colleagues by reading a bit about each of them below.

If you think they look like they could help you on your next architectural project, you can get in touch at info@hemarchitects.co.uk or give us a call on 0114 442 0123.

Anna

Anna loves to create excellent homes tailored to the people who live in them. She is also passionate about guiding and supporting our clients through the building process.

Outside of work, you’ll find Anna reading or planning her next long-distance walking trail. Her favourite walk so far has been the West Highland Way. She’d love to complete all of the UK national trails one day.

Sam

Sam joined our team after 5 years at a large multi-disciplinary practice in Sheffield and, more recently, as an assistant installation manager with our friends Sheffield Sustainable Kitchens. This has given him detailed experience of a large range of project types and scales. Sam has particular interests in the detail of sustainable design and on the connection between landscape and architecture.

Away from work, Sam enjoys the outdoors and high quality coffee. He’s currently trying to perfect his hand brew.

Nathan

Nathan loves developing client briefs through rigorous and sustainable design practices. He is passionate about working with existing structures with a particular focus on material choice and using light to enhance spaces. He’s currently studying his Masters in architecture, where his interests in sustainability and landscapes influence his approach to architectural design.

Outside of work, Nathan loves visiting new places with friends and family, tending to his woodland terrarium and enjoying a good single malt whisky. You’ll occasionally find him running around the badminton courts too.

Owais

Owais recently joined the practice after completing his undergrad at the University of Sheffield. During his studies he established a passion for light and form in architecture, especially relating to natural materials.

Outside of architecture, Owais is a keen photographer who develops his own film. He also prints his photos in a homemade darkroom, and is rarely seen without a camera around his neck.

Steve

Steve joined us recently as our Office Projects Manager. He’s responsible for streamlining the way we operate in the practice. He’s always had a keen interest in creative projects and a fascination with how each stage of the process unfolds. This gave him the desire to work within the Architectural sector.

Outside of office life, you will usually find Steve running, cycling or walking his dogs through the peaks & around the reservoirs that surround Sheffield. He’s also a passionate supporter of Everton FC, but sometimes doesn’t like to admit it.
