We’ve rebranded! Paul Testa Architecture is now HEM Architects.
We’ve experienced a challenging yet rewarding few years that have seen the practice move office and double in size. Our rebrand is a natural evolution of the business and has been a key part of our vision since 2017. We couldn’t be happier to finally share it with everyone.
Why did we rebrand?
We have assembled a dedicated, passionate team that are the driving force behind our work.
Since 2017 the practice has grown well beyond Paul Testa. When we initially set up the name made sense, but we have since outgrown it. We are now a team of two Directors, four Project Architects, four Architectural Assistants and two Office Managers, with a wealth of successfully completed projects.
HEM Architects is the brand of that team, as opposed to being just about one person. We have assembled a dedicated, passionate team that are the driving force behind our work, and we needed a name to reflect that.
Why HEM Architects?
Right from the offset it was clear that our new name should be short, easy to remember and evocative of who we are as a practice and why we do what we do.
HEM is Swedish for home and has a familiar, homely feel to it, which resonates with what is at the heart of all our work. We design healthy, warm and comfortable homes that meet our clients needs, for better living.
Why ‘Better Living’?
The core aim with every project we embark on is to enrich the lives of our clients
Better Living is our tagline. It perfectly sums up what we do. With each project we always strive to improve the lives of our clients, our local community and the planet through our work. Better living can apply to both residential or public projects but we’d approach any project in the same way.
Most importantly, we always strive to add value through our designs. That value can mean different things to different people, but the core aim with every project we embark on is to enrich the lives of our clients. What has changed?
Along with the new identity, our website and wider brand assets have all been updated. Our new website, designed by Sheffield-based Ink & Water, is functional, beautiful and simpler to navigate. As a result, it’s now easier to find the things you need to know when embarking on your project.
Sharing our learnings with our clients and the wider community is one of our core values. You can find out key advice about construction, sustainability, and design over on our blog and newsletter. We’ve better arranged our catalogue of previous and in-progress projects to help you find examples of work that’s relevant to you.

What hasn’t changed?
Obvious updates aside, the way we run as an office and the way we manage and deliver our projects hasn’t changed. We’re still the same approachable team with the same vision: to help everyone live in beautiful, practical homes that have minimal impact on our planet. We’re open, honest and collaborative, and we’re on your team from day one.
Leadership is staying the same. Paul and Alan have been our joint directors since 2017 and will continue to be as we embark on this new chapter.
