Sort Trae wins at the RIBA Yorkshire Awards

We’re thrilled that one of our projects ‘Sort Trae’ with Susi Clark and Marc Medland came away with an award at the RIBA Yorkshire Awards 2024.

We had a brilliant evening at the Guildhall in York and we’re incredibly proud to come away with an award that reflected the high standard of the project.

It was great to celebrate with the HEM Architects team. Directors Paul Testa, Alan MacDonald and Claire Taylor the Project Architect.

Special mention to Liam Seaman who was the Architectural Technologist on the project, but sadly couldn’t attend. But don’t worry he was watching Leeds United win.

We were joined by Susi Clark designer and owner of Sort Trae, Terry & Kerry Huggett the main contractor, and Chris Jarvis, Director of JAM Structural Designs who carried out the structural engineering. We were also pleased to invite some industry friends along to celebrate with us.

The jury’s comments summed up the project nicely:

“The use of natural, local materials and elegant detailing has created a calm, beautifully lit space for the owner to live, work, and enjoy the stunning setting as their needs and the world around them changes.”
